Aqualia, one of the world leaders in water management, obtained a Syndicated green corporate loan of 1.1 billion euros in which ten banking establishments participatedled by CaixaBank, which acted as financing coordinator, banking agent, solebookrunner and sustainability officer.

Aqualia will use this loan to finance and refinance eligible green projects and its activities, like water and waste treatmentwater distribution and storage, renewable energy and sustainable transport, among other projects.

This operation is the largest green syndicated loan in Spain this year. The financing is linked to Aqualia’s green financing framework, which was advised by CaixaBank, and was supported by a second-party opinion from DNV, which validated the eligibility of projects aligned with LMA’s green lending principles .

According to Isidoro Marbán, Aqualia’s Chief Financial Officer: “This financing provides Aqualia with great stability in its long-term capital structure at a time when the financial markets are very volatile and recognizes the solidity of the company and its orientation towards a sustainable economy and services. ‘.
The financing also involved the participation of Allen & Overy and Garrigues as legal advisers on the transaction.
