Israel to end Covid travel restrictions in several countries, including United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States

Israel’s Ministry of Health has recommended ending travel restrictions to and from the US, UK and six other countries which include UAE, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mexico , Switzerland and Turkey.

The new rules are in effect at midnight Thursday, subject to the expected approval of the Knesset cabinet and law committee.

The travel ban was put in place in December in an effort to prevent people infected with the coronavirus from entering the country.

The change was recommended as community transmission now accounts for more than 95% of newly infected people as the number of daily cases in Israel increases.

Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi has updated its green list of countries for inbound travel to the emirate from where passengers can travel directly to the emirate without having to quarantine themselves at the emirate. arrival.

As of 12:01 am on Monday, January 3, this list now includes 71 countries, compared to 73 countries.

The United Kingdom, Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, Russia and Lebanon are among the countries that have been removed from the green list published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). Countries like Algeria, Morocco, Seychelles and Tunisia have been added to it.

All travelers arriving from Green List destinations are exempt from mandatory quarantine measures after landing in Abu Dhabi.

The United Arab Emirates also announced a travel ban from January 10 for citizens of the United Arab Emirates who are not vaccinated against Covid-19. To travel, vaccinated citizens are required to obtain a booster dose according to the national booster dose protocol.

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), in coordination with the National Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).

There are exceptions that will be made. Travel is permitted for unvaccinated citizens who are medically exempt from vaccination, humanitarian cases, as well as people traveling for medical and treatment purposes.
